 sue williams

I am a self-taught artist based in Worcestershire. After a fulfilling and creative career as a hair stylist and makeup artist, I returned to my long-standing passion for painting.

My work explores a variety of subjects, including wildlife, nature, and seascapes. I am particularly drawn to colour, light, and pattern, working primarily in oils, acrylics, and watercolour.

My inspiration is simple—anything that makes me smile. It brings me great joy to know that my paintings can evoke happiness, uplift others, or hold personal meaning for someone.

During lockdown, I painted over 200 pebbles and placed them around my village for children to discover, combining creativity with a sense of community.

I feel especially connected to water and wildlife, inspired by their movement, colours, and natural rhythms. Some of my favourite places to paint are nature reserves, where the peace and tranquillity create a deeply meditative experience.

I paint not only for the love of the process, but also for the wonderful, euphoric feeling that comes when someone connects with a piece enough to make it their own.
