LUCY BURTON - Abstract Sunflower Workshop
During the workshop we will be Drawing, Cutting, Collaging, Editing and Painting our way to an Abstract Sunflower Design. Focusing on Colour, Composition, Shape and Tone. Level: All levels Booking code: WLB
Time & Location
15 Aug 2026, 10:00 – 16:00
Willersey Village hall, Willersey, Broadway WR12 7PJ, UK
About the event
Starting with careful observation and a loose drawing of some real sunflowers we will then create a collage using ‘Notan’ theory in tonal papers. We will take our ‘Notan’ design and discuss ways to abstract it further: you can then choose to paint from it in either acrylics, oils, or watercolour. The painting will need to be finished at home, but you can make a start during the workshop.

Lucy will have lots of examples of both the collaging and painting stages and will guide you every step of the way, giving you lots of ideas to inform your own work. With each piece that is created you will be encouraged to find your own unique style.
Lucy Is an oil painter and teacher living and working in Warwickshire.
Whatever the subject matter, Lucy enjoys applying the paint in a dynamic and interesting way: always focusing on colour mixing, brushwork and composition.
